May 2025: The Physical Body and the Breath

How has this May shown up for your physical health? This has been a chaotic month full of perhaps even deeper triggers from family, work, environment, media, old generational fears surfacing, and generally issues that are associated with older patterns from the outside of us.

These triggers are affecting the inner world of our whole selves, purposely settling into the physical body, (especially this month) as a form of communication to heal. This physical body is not just the body we are using to move through space, but also the connections of the three brains called the head or brain-brain, the heart-brain and the gut-brain.

This month has offered an opportunity for assessment and potential strategies for balanced living, provided through the physical body. As stated in the months prior, do not be squeamish about making time for stillness and processing. There is quite a lot to unravel during this time.

Try this: Begin to find stillness by placing hands on abdomen, allowing the breath itself to move the hands. Just observe that belly movement. Try normal expansion of the breath through the nose, with the tongue pressing the hard palate with the mouth closed. Now exhale very slowly through the nose and at the point of end of exhale, wait quietly in stillness to the count of 5, then inhale through nose… Take a couple of normal breaths with nose… and repeat this exercise a few times. How do you feel? What do you notice?

If you are still with me, then try this: After the calming breath work, notice a place of restriction, pain, tension in the body. With calm breathing through nose, use your brain-brain and your hands to “go into” the place of distress. The hands are very important for healing because we all have lots of powerful photons that emit from our hands and with intention, will tap into that restriction to gather information.

Now accessing and connecting the heart-brain with the brain-brain, ask the body part of focus, with compassion and love, what does it want, what does it need right now? It will be very curious what your body will actually tell you if you listen!
Then nurture and nourish what information you gather, remind your body that it is safe and you are ready to listen better every day. Now breathe into the gut-brain as well as the body part, infusing calm compassion that can balance the autonomic nervous system as well as repair that “pit in your stomach” kind of imbalance in the gut….

Such attempts to listen to the messages of the body and acting in accordance with the communication we are developing, will enhance and accelerate our healing by melting old blocks that inhibit your health. Keep up this internal awareness and dialogue as a manifestation of the triggers to the outer world. This is a major component of optimum health, developing the resilience and flexibility needed for May and beyond.

Blessings,
Kathleen
