April 2025: Compassion and the Neutral Mind
This is the month of the neutral mind. It is the month of this year to sit back and contemplate our lives and the world around us with compassion.
In yogic tradition we have three minds; negative, positive and neutral.
The negative mind is not bad but instead protective. It is the first go-to place in our thoughts for our protection every time. Some stay in this mind longer than others.
The positive mind is not good or bad but the analyzing mind. It is the place to rationalize what we have perceived and put a spin on the incidents that we are attaching to, sometimes to find joy, but more often to soothe our fearful worries.
Then with a truly conscious look at our world with its triggers, we have the opportunity for discernment and the ability to step back using the neutral mind for a more complete and better observation.
This is the true place of compassion. A place in ourselves that is free of judgement and criticism. It is a place of “just is”.
This neutral place is not intended to be our all the time home, but it is the highest frequency of soulful living. It is a place where we can be at peace, even for a moment in time. The longer we can be in this place of neutrality, the more we can expand that peace beyond our own personal lives.
The best place to find this moment is in observing the breath.
Maybe a box breath meditation: inhale slowly to the count of 4, hold the breath to the count of 4, exhale to the count of 4, hold breath out for the count of 4…. Repeat.
Free yourself of the burden of right and wrong of others for just a minute, it does help calm, and has a great side effect of ensuring a longer, and more importantly, expansive life to ourselves and others energetically.
Notice the tree for this month’s blog, gracefully carrying a share of a surprise snow just this week, in the neutral month of April. It held it’s charge just for a moment in time, before the warmth of the day let it melt.
Be of highest vibration in this holy month of compassion in the neutral mind.
